Setiawan, Tatan Korelasi Penafsiran Ayat Ummatan Wāḥidatan dengan Hadits tentang Perpecahan Umat: Perspektif Tafsir dan Kritik Hadits

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the correlation between the interpretation of the
Qur’anic verse Ummatan Wāḥidatan and the hadith about the division of Muslims
into seventy-three sects. The verse represents the ideal of unity, while the hadith
illustrates the historical reality of division. By employing a thematic interpretation
(tafsīr mawḍū‘ī) and hadith criticism approach, this research finds a dialectical
relationship between normative unity and practical diversity. The study concludes
that differences among Muslim groups do not necessarily contradict the concept of
unity, but rather reflect the dynamics of diversity within the framework of faith and
orientation toward truth.
